In California, firefighters are entitled to an extensive number of legal presumptions when it comes to determining the cause of various injuries and medical conditions.

What this means, for firefighters, is that many injuries and medical conditions are presumed to have developed in the course of work as a firefighter.

When a firefighter sustains a work related injury or medical condition, the firefighter is entitled to a continuation of full payoff a period of up to 1 year.

At the end of the year, firefighters may also be entitled to other temporary benefits as permitted under the law.
